John T. Boston
John Thomas Boston, son of Jeffrey Boston and Josephine Boston of
Wappingers Falls, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a recent ceremony
conducted by Boy Scout Troop 40 of Hopewell Junction, NY. John has served
in a wide capacity of leadership roles in Troop 40, culminating in the
position of Senior Patrol Leader, which involved leading the entire
troop.
John began his 'Trail to Eagle' by joining Cub Scout Pack 127 as a
Tiger cub when he was in First Grade. He progressed through the Cub Scout
ranks of Wolf, Bear, and Webelos, and joined Boy Scout Troop 40 in 2000.
John served as Patrol Leader, Den Chief, Troop Guide, Quartermaster and
Senior Patrol Leader.
John has participated in numerous community service activities performed
by scouts in Pack 127 and Troop 40. These included collecting food for the
Food Bank, road clean-ups, collecting food baskets, and assisting numerous
other scouts with their Eagle projects.
John has received several art awards and designed a patch for the
Olympic Fall Camporee in 2003. He has demonstrated his creativity by
contributing to many scout projects that have included building an
eight-foot totem pole, constructing a tank sled, designing gigantic
shelters, and performing numerous troop skits with his brother, Paul.
For his Eagle project, John organized the renovation of statues and
gardens at the front entrance of St. Francis Hospital. Two statues were
repainted, brick borders were added to the gardens, and the gardens were
refreshed.
John is a senior at Our Lady of Lourdes High School where he is an
active member of the National Honor Society, the Confirmation Retreat Team,
and the Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track Teams. He is
currently serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 40, having turned
18.
