Sean Gately
Boy Scout Troop 40 is happy to announce the advancement of Sean Gately
to the rank of Eagle Scout. Sean entered the world of Scouting at the age
of five when he joined Cub Scout Pack 48 as a Tiger. He earned the Arrow
of Light Award and bridged to Boy Scouts in the fifth grade. Sean chose to
join Boy Scout Troop 40 and has continued to be an active member of the
troop.
Sean has held several leadership positions in Troop 40 including
Quartermaster, Den Chief, and Senior Patrol Leader. He has participated in
numerous campouts, events, service projects, and summer camps with Troop
40. Sean attended Junior Leadership Training in 2005 and participated in
the 2005 National Scout Jamboree held at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia. In
2006 Sean traveled with Troop 40 to Washington D.C. to present a flag that
will be displayed on the USS New York, a new Navy ship built with scrap
metal from the World Trade Center. Sean completed his Eagle Project in
July of 2006 after renovating the day care room at Good Counsel in
Poughkeepsie.
Outside of Scouting, Sean is active in several clubs including the Red
Cross Club and DECA. An honor roll student at John Jay, he plays on the
varsity lacrosse team. Sean works at Carvel in Hopewell Junction and is
also a lifeguard at AllSport in Fishkill. In his spare time, he enjoys
hanging out with his family and friends. He is always up for a game of
basketball, golf, or pool.
