Sean Gately

Boy Scout Troop 40 is happy to announce the advancement of Sean Gately to the rank of Eagle Scout. Sean entered the world of Scouting at the age of five when he joined Cub Scout Pack 48 as a Tiger. He earned the Arrow of Light Award and bridged to Boy Scouts in the fifth grade. Sean chose to join Boy Scout Troop 40 and has continued to be an active member of the troop.

Sean has held several leadership positions in Troop 40 including Quartermaster, Den Chief, and Senior Patrol Leader. He has participated in numerous campouts, events, service projects, and summer camps with Troop 40. Sean attended Junior Leadership Training in 2005 and participated in the 2005 National Scout Jamboree held at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia. In 2006 Sean traveled with Troop 40 to Washington D.C. to present a flag that will be displayed on the USS New York, a new Navy ship built with scrap metal from the World Trade Center. Sean completed his Eagle Project in July of 2006 after renovating the day care room at Good Counsel in Poughkeepsie.

Outside of Scouting, Sean is active in several clubs including the Red Cross Club and DECA. An honor roll student at John Jay, he plays on the varsity lacrosse team. Sean works at Carvel in Hopewell Junction and is also a lifeguard at AllSport in Fishkill. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends. He is always up for a game of basketball, golf, or pool.
